MLM Coaching - Throw Old School Oscar out of the plane.
You need to invest your time and money wisely. Do not pick an old school mlm coach. Like so many others I blindly followed my upline Old School Oscar’s lead as I threw away thousands of hours and thousands of dollars I did not have. Fortunately I woke up before I went broke, not everyone does. Some of my friends filed bankruptcy . Others swore of network marketing forever. Both are very sad endings in part because the blame was misplaced. It wasn’t the network marketing industries fault, but was Oscar’s - and those like him. Most of these dismal stories of mlm failure are because it is the blind leading the blind. You see, my upline Oscar (not his real name) was making money - but he didn’t have a clue how to train or duplicate his success. He was a used car salesperson - literally. His experience and temperament could burn through a warm market list and keep going. He was one out of a 10,000 that was making decent money in our company - and he did it the old fashioned way. I hold no grudges, and to his defence, it was before the days that the power of the internet opened up for anyone willing to learn how to become a professional marketer in the network marketing industry.
The sad news is that Old School Oscar, as with most of the those making money in mlm today, are still teaching outdated, ineffective, and for the most part, destructive strategies and methods to their downlines.
Did you know that airplanes flew before computers were invented? Would you want to take a cross country flight in jet without a computer now? Of course not. The same dramatic metamorphosis is radically impacting our industry, but we still have old-school flight instructors who don’t have a clue that there is a new paradigm we must operate in now for success. Flying commercially without a computer isn’t evil or wrong, it is just outdated, stupid, and dangerous. (For those love flying as a hobby in old aircraft, please no offence is intended; but the analogy still fits - there is a difference between a hobby and business.)
Old school Oscar and those like him don’t want to learn the new professional skills needed for the average guy to become a professional in our industry. There attitude includes - “If I could do it, than you can do it!” This logic is faulty for three main reasons; the huge change of paradigm in marketing because of the advent of the internet, societal changes, and the history of our industry.
A. Internet marketing. Really enough said. Like every other industry, this venue has drastically changed how marketing is done. It also has levelled the playing field where the home business entrepreneur can compete in the open market.
B. Societal changes. People are no longer a gullible, mostly because they don’t have to be. The mainstream of society didn’t have access to quick and easy information even 10 years ago. When Old School Oscar told someone that his company AmKay was the best thing since sliced bread, people either believed or didn’t. Many did and would join a company in the 1970’s, 1980’s and even well into the 1990’s without doing research. People weren’t in the habit of verifying information. A small percentage of the population would go to the library, and even that information was dated. NOW - the average Joe is a researcher and learner. Between hundreds of TV channels and millions of web sites, people learn and look things up. They will not naturally sign up after hotel meetings like they did in the recent past.
C. Industry history. Do you know what a vaccination is? They inject just a little bit of the weakened “bug” into your system so that your body will learn how to build up defences to fight. When Old School Oscar told people about AmKay in the 1970’s and then a handful of other companies came on the scene also in the 1980’s, the whole concept was new to society. Unfortunately, then, and now, close to 100% of those who joined never made enough money to achieve their dream of full time income. As a society, we became vaccinated against the network marketing industry. Almost everyone you talk to now has had exposure, or knew someone else that did. They got sick. They got over it. And now they have thick defences against it. It is an entirely different game then when Oscar built his downline 10, 20 or 30 years ago.
The internet marketing phenomena, societal changes, and our industry’s history all necessitate that those wanting to make full time income in network marketing must learn how to fly by the new rules.
If you are looking for a “flight instructor” for your mlm career, you are wise. Consider flight school with mlm Coach Curt.
When your upline Old School Oscar says that you can do it, because he did it - just know things have drastically changed and he refuses to face reality. Flying in a WWI bi-plane may be fun for some, but I wouldn’t suggest
