Holy Hype!

"How do I handle the hype of my company or this industry?"

The first step in handling the hype in this industry is simply to admit to yourself and others that it is indeed there.  Hopefully you have plugged into my good friend Ann Sieg's material.  If not, it is the best place to start.  Click Here  Unless we recongize some of the lies out there, we as Christian mlmers will be decieved ourselves.  I don't like to admit it, but intially I fell into the hype of my first company and this industry.  I loved my company (which we should,) but to think it would change the world or become the next McDonalds was simply silly.  Are you there with your company?  Try to wake up to reality.  Hopefully your company is great, but put it in persective.

Admit to yourself also that although this is a great industry, it is filled with things that are shady to say the least.  Your odds of becoming a millionaire working part time are a zillion to one.

OK - so you are not one of those that need deliverance.  You are level headed, but like me want to work your business with high ethical standards and honesty.  After you get past step 1 and see things they way they are, how do you deal with the HYPE!?!

The first tip I have for you is to have the right focus.  Most Christian network marketers fall in love with their company and by into the marketing practices of the company and/or upline.  The focus is wrong.  Your are NOT primarily marketing your comany or their great product.   You are marketing YOU.

YOU are the one who can provide help for someone, and you have your comany and products/services at your disposal.  This paradigm is crucial for success.  With this focus, it is imperative then that you as a follower of Jesus to not propagate any hype or silly marketing strategies or philosophies.  You must represent the Kingdom of God first, and let all else be second.

So - practically what does that mean.  Here is one example, and you will need to take the methods or slogans your mlm team is using and either adjust them, or reject them - regardless of how much your upline might tell you how effective they are.

A typical enticement in this industry used by many is the lure of a 6 figure income that comes quickly with minimal effort.  As a Christian you know this goes against Biblical precepts.  So, as a Christian don't participate in that nonsense.  Tell the Truth.   Let prospective busiess partners know that they will need to work hard for a few years before they can expect to make a six figure income.

We have a GREAT industry.  Where else can you start part time, with minimal financial investment, and have such an awesome expectation?!?  Why do so many have to ruin it by saying it can be done easily or in a few weeks or months?

If the marketing material your team uses promotes hype, don't use it.  Create your own.

If your team meetings or opportunity meetings are shady - don't go or promote them.  Learn to be a professional.  Learn how to market so you have interested people coming to you.

Take a stand for truth as a Christian network marketer and you will win in the long run.

"Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, Than he that is perverse in [his] ways, though he be rich."  Proverbs 28:6
